Obituary
Sister Mary (Domitille) Disher
Sister Mary (Domitille) Disher, 89, a Sister of St. Joseph of the Third Order of
St. Francis for 73 years, who taught in Stevens Point schools, died Wednesday,
Aug. 25, 2004, at St. Joseph Congregational Home in Stevens Point.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Joseph Convent
Chapel. Burial will follow in the convent cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the convent, where a vigil
service will take place at 6:30 p.m.
The Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
The former Mary A. Disher was born June 30, 1915, in Fancher, a daughter of the
late Jacob and Pauline (Flisakowski) Disher.
She was received into the novitiate of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third
Order of St. Francis on Aug. 4, 1931. She made her first profession of vows on
Aug. 8, 1933, and her final vows on Aug. 8, 1936.
She was an educator fo43 years. In Stevens Point she taught at St. Stanislaus
School from 1946 to 1948 and at Maria High School from 1966 to 1970. She was
directress of the Cloister, a dormitory for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens
Point female students at St. Joseph convent, from 1972 to 1976. She served as a
homemaker at St. Peter's rectory from 1983 until her retirement in 1988. She was
a bookkeeper at St. Joseph Congregational Home until 1997.
Survivors include nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Regina Timmerman; and five brothers,
Peter, John, the Rev, Francis, Stanley and Raymond.
