Theodore B. Disher

Theodore B. Disher, 64, 248 Franklin St., died Sunday afternoon at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a patient the past four days. He had been ill the past six months.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. Chester Zielinski will officiate. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.

Friends may call now at the Dzikoski Funeral Home. the general rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Disher was born May 29, 1914, in the town of Linwood, a son of Mrs. Matilda Fredach and the late Florian Disher. He attended school in Keene. He married Agnes Cisewski on Nov. 27, 1934, at St. Peter's Church. The couple settled at the present address and he worked as a car foreman for the Soo Line until retiring in 1974.

Survivors include his wife, his mother, 2332 Prairie St.; seven sons, Florian, town of Linwood, Kenneth, Ashland, Ronald, Almond, Donald, Thorp, August, town of Hull, and Gerald and David, Stevens Point; three daughters, Mrs. Gary (Patricia) Humphry, Hancock, Mrs. Frank (Margaret) Woiak, Amherst, and Charlotte, Chippewa Falls; two brothers, John, Riverview, Fla., and Aloise, Milwaukee; three sisters, Mrs. Leo (Kathrine) Waiter, 1732 Madison St., Mrs. Erving (Gertrude) Schlichting, 2332 Prairie St. and Mrs. Frances Wasieleski, 3257 Martha's Lane; and 21 grandchildren.

His father, three daughters, one son, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

MISTAKES ACID FOR ROOT BEER, CRITICALLY ILL

4-Year-Old Town of Grant Boy Suffers Internal Injuries

Theodore Disher Jr. who swallowed sulphuric acid on Thursday, died at St. Michael's hospital at 1:55 o'clock this afternoon.

Theodore Disher Jr., age four years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Disher of the town of Grant, is in critical condition at St. Michael's hospital as the result of swallowing sulphuric acid from a soft drink bottle, which he mistook for root beer.

The child climbed upon a bench in the Disher garage, on Thursday morning at 11 o'clock, to reach the bottle on a window ledge above the bench. The acid had been used last winter by Mr. Disher to strengthen the solution in his car battery. The family resides with Mr. Disher's mother, Mrs. Mathilda Disher, on her farm.

Runs to Watering Tank

Burned by the acid, the little boy cried out and ran to a watering tank in the front yard, taking water into his mouth to relieve the pain. His mother than administered milk and egg white as an antidote and put her son to bed. The antidote acted as an emetic and the boy subsequently felt improved, but later in the day his condition became worse and the parents brought him to a Stevens Point doctor, who immediately had the boy taken to the hospital.

The acid burned the boy's mouth, palate and back of the tongue, and the injuries extend down the esophagus to the stomach. the child is unable to sallow and is being fed by saline injections. Traumatic pneumonia has developed as a result of the injuries and oxygen is being administered.

Disher Funeral Monday

Funeral services for Theodore Disher Jr., four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Disher of the town of grant, who died Friday afternoon, will be held Monday morning at St. Bronislawa's Catholic church at Plover. Burial will take place in Guardian Angel cemetery in Stevens Point. The body is at the Prais funeral home where the rosary will be said tonight and Sunday night at 8 o'clock.

His death occurred at 1:55 o'clock at St. Michael's hospital as the result of swallowing sulphuric acid from a soft drink bottle, which he mistook for root beer, on Thursday.

The child was born on April 15, 1937, in Stevens Point. The family home was at 104 Franklin street. The family moved to a farm in Grant last December.

Surviving besides his parents are three brothers, Florian, age 5, Conrad, two, and Ronald, four months, and his grandparents, Mrs. Victoria Cisewski, 106 Franklin street and Mrs. Mathilda Fredach of Grant.

Geraldine E. Disher, two-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Disher, 104 Franklin street, died this morning at 10:30 o'clock at St. Michael's Hospital. She was ill with pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital this morning at 5:30 o'clock. the child was born on November 9.

2-YEAR-OLD FALLS INTO RIVER NEAR HOME, DROWNS

A two-year-old girl drowned Friday afternoon when she fell into the Wisconsin River near her home.

Elaine Ellen Disher, one of the 12 children of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Disher, 104 Franklin St., was found floating in Howard Wells' boathouse near the end of Franklin Street at about 5:15.

Police said a youth who had gone there to water ski saw the girl in the water and ran to the John Salvinski house at 102 Franklin to telephone police. The Salvinskis' son, Frank, an odd-duty policeman rushed over to pull the child out.

Moments later, Fire Chief Carl Maslowski and others in his family, including his sister, Miss Romona Maslowski, a nurse arrived to go boating.

Miss Maslowski applied mouth-to-mouth resuscitation until relived by Myron Jakusz, 404 Franklin St. Fireman were also on the scene and attempted to use a mechanical resuscitator,but Chief Maslowski said it did not work well, possibly because of the child's small lung capacity.

Efforts to revive the child continued at the scene for about 45 minutes. Then, after doctors arrived, the girl was taken to the hospital, with Jakusz continuing his efforts to revive her. She was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival there.

Ellen had left the house which is not far from the boathouse, at about 3 o'clock and was reportedly last seen about 4. No one saw her fall into the river and it is not known how long she was in the water.

She was born in Stevens Point Dec. 5, 1959.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by seven brothers, Florian, 27, Lake Charles, La., Kenneth 23, Milwaukee, and Ronald,21, August, 19, Donald, 15, David, 12, and Gerald, seven, at home; four sisters, Betty Jane, 17, Patricia, 11, Charlotte, 10, and Margaret, eight, at home, and her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Matilda Fredach, Wild Rose. The funeral has tentatively been scheduled for 1:15 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with burial following in Guardian Angel Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dzikoski Funeral Home after Monday noon.

Child's Funeral

Funeral services for Elaine Disher, two, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Disher, 104 Franklin St., were held at St. Peter's Catholic Church Tuesday morning.

The child drowned Friday in the Wisconsin River near her home.

The Rev. S. P. Mieczkowski conducted the children's mass, and burial took place in Guardian Angel Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David and Gerald Wasieleski, Thomas Disher and Garry Cisewski.

Relatives and friends attended from Lake Charles, La., Wild Rose, Milwaukee and the Stevens Point area.
