Mrs. Barbara Singer

Mrs. Barbara Singer, who was 87, died at the Portage County Infirmary Thursday afternoon at 3:35.

She was a resident of Plover before entering the infirmary five years ago.

Mrs. Singer was the widow of John Singer, who died May 27, 1955.

She was born in Poland Dec.1, 1875, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Disher, who came to the United States with her parents when she was a little girl.

The family settled in the Town of New Hope.

Seventy-two years ago, on Feb. 6, 1891, she was married at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Fancher, to Mr. Singer.

The couple lived on farms in the Towns of Sharon and Grant before retiring in the early 1940s and moving to Plover.

Mrs. Singer is survived by four sons, Frank and Henry, Plover, Louis, Milwaukee, and Leo, Brillion; nine daughters, Mrs. Johanna Kedrowski, Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. John (Regina) Raschka, Town of Hull, Mrs. Herman (Susie) Winkelman, Ormsby, Minn., Mrs. Frank (Frances) Shopinski, 531 Water St., Mrs. Frank (Bernice) Raschka, 1050 S. Minnesota Ave., Mrs. Earl (Martha) Ryan, Minneapolis, and Mrs. Walter (Magaret) Gorecki, Mrs. Edmund (Belvine) Worzella and Mrs. Claude (Katherine) Franks, Milwaukee; 30 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Her direct descendants total 105.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 8 o'clock at St Bronislava's Catholic Church in Plover, with burial following in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dzikoski Funeral Home. St. Bronislava's Rosary Society, of which Mrs. Singer was a member, will recite the rosary tonight at 8, and a general rosary will be said at 9.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Singer, 87, Plover, who died Thursday, were held Saturday morning at St. Bronislava's Catholic Church in Plover.

The Rev. Francis Przybylski officiated, and burial took place in the parish cemetery.

The parish Rosary Society, of which Mrs. Singer was a member, attended in a group.

Pallbearers were Leo Shopinski, George Shopinski, John Singer, Raymond Singer, Jerome Kedrowski and Ronald Zinda.

Relatives and friends attended from Wisconsin Rapids, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Brillion, Plover and the Stevens Point area.

John H. Singer

Mr. and Mrs. John H. Singer's 63 years of married life were ended by Mr. Singer's death Thursday afternoon at 5 o'clock at St. Michael's hospital. He was 92 years old.

The couple, who farmed in the town of Grant for half a century, had made their home in Plover for the past eight years.

Mr. Singer had been in ill health for the past year and one-half, but he remained active around his home. Two weeks ago he entered the hospital.

Funeral services will be held at St. Bronislawa's Catholic church, Plover, Monday morning at 9 o'clock, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 10 o'clock Sunday at the Dzikoski funeral home. A general rosary will be said there at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Mr. Singer was born in Poland on Feb. 6, 1863. He came to this country with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Singer, who settled in the Polonia area.

In1892, he was married to the former Barbara Disher, and the couple lived in the Polonia area for a short time before moving to a farm in the town of Grant. They resided there until retiring and moving to Plover.

The couple were the parents of 14 children, 13 of whom are living.

Mr. Singer's survivors include his wife; four sons, Frank and Henry, Plover, Louis, Milwaukee, and Leo, Brillion; nine daughters, Mrs. Barney Kedrowski, Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. Herman Winkleman, Ormsby, Minn., Mrs. Earl Ryan, Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Frank Shopinski, Whiting, Mrs. John Raschka, town of Hull, Mrs. Frank Raschka, 1050 South Minnesota avenue, and Mrs. Edward Worzalla, Mrs. Claude Franks Jr., and Mrs. Walter Gorecki, Milwaukee; 33 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Pepowski, Wausau.

One daughter preceded him in death.

Funeral services for John N. Singer, 92-year-old Plover resident who died Thursday, were held Monday morning at St. Bronislawa's Catholic church, Plover.
